Although I despise the heat here, I am glad to see the month of June arrive! May was so miserable for so many people. As if to make me feel better, Mother Nature granted us a short rainstorm and a cooling breeze last night. Yes, I went outside and walked in the rain and enjoyed the breeze!
***************************
On to my rant.
Though I may not see it in my lifetime, I can see the writing on the wall.
America is done.
Within 50 years states will become *regions*, regions will splinter and fracture and the whole idea of a *United* States will become moot.
I don't see the country becoming a banana republic, but I do see the country becoming a chaotic continent of regions, some living peacefully side by side, some constantly warring.
At least one region, possibly two, will come into total domination by the backwards, archaic, violent Muslim population. ( Dearborn Michigan and Paterson New Jersey are already dominated by high Muslim populations). If you live in those areas, get your ass out now, unless you want your children, grandchildren and other future descendants living under Sharia law. Islam allows for ONLY three outcomes for the non-Islamic: Conversion, Enslavement or Death.
There will be massive violence as those areas transition.
Please, do NOT protest this and say *But it's the religion of peace*. We all know that is bullshit.
Read your history books. There has NEVER been an Islamic country that lived peacefully.
If they lived peacefully with their neighbors, then they committed acts of violence against each other...raping young girls, beating their wives, honor killings, male rape of young boys, killing neighbors because they wouldn't sell their 10 year daughter into marriage with a 45 year old man, etc. And all of it condoned by their *faith*...which, in reality is NOT a *faith*, but is an all encompassing political/cultural/religious movement.
We have become a weak country. Seriously weak.
We no longer value self-sufficiency, courage, independence, critical thinking, freedom, or ANY of those qualities that made America the Republic a nation to be envied and held up as an example.
Now we arrest kids that take a plastic GI Joe to school that has a less than 1 inch gun in it's holster.
We don't ask immigrants to assimilate into our melting pot....we *celebrate* their cultures...even if they practice Female Genital Mutilation , taking hunks of broken glass or lids of tin cans to slice and dig out the inner labia and clitoris without anesthesia in the belief that it keeps girls pure and chaste. Oh yeah...celebrate that shit! Such damn cultural diversity, it makes me want to puke.
I had an uncle (now deceased) that fought in World War II. Korea. AND VietNam.
Three Purple Hearts. A couple of Silver Stars and a Bronze Star. In addition to several other medals and decorations. He saw the horrors of the Nazi Concentration Camps up close and personal. Bodies being loaded onto flat bed rail cars like cord wood in Korea. Infants booby trapped and placed in the road by their mothers in VietNam because the VC knew American troops would want to save the baby and would get blown up with the infant.
What he did NOT see? A diagnosis of PTSD. He retired after 34 years in the service, went onto a successful career in real estate and enjoyed his remaining years with my aunt...taking vacations and enjoying life.
We used to be made of sterner stuff, I think.
Through my Darlin' Man, I have heard of current soldiers who never went into a combat area being diagnosed with PTSD (and getting disability for it!) because they HEARD of a friend getting killed in combat.
Spare me.
I had eight friends that were killed in VietNam, perhaps I should apply for PTSD related disability.
We have coddled ourselves to death. Unfortunately, it means the death of our country.
Those individuals (call them *preppers* or *survivalists* or whatever catch-all term is being used this week) that value self-sufficiency, freedom, etc. are rapidly "detaching" themselves from society. They still attend their churches or community events or go to the cinema or concerts...but they are talking less and less about their efforts and/or preps. It's called "going gray (or grey for my British friends). More and more are doing it. They are attempting to take their lives "off grid"...maybe not literally (as in no electricity or other utilities), but they are lowering their profiles. No credit cards and/or bank accounts. No cell phone with GPS capabilities. No GPS in their vehicles. Becoming self-employed and moving to a state with no state income tax or sales tax to lighten the load of all the invasive paper work. They home school. They grow as much of their own food as possible. I think they are the smart ones.
Our government has betrayed us AND the intent of our Founding Fathers. (Will someone please go check the graves of Tho. Jefferson, Patrick Henry, Geo. Washington, Thomas Payne, et al? I am sure those gentlemen have spun so much in their graves all the dirt must have been kicked off by now!)
We have corporations that wield more power than any politician or elected official (including the President). Monsanto being a good example. Monsanto poisons us and the band plays merrily on....due to the fact that the halls of Congress and the Executive Branch AND the Supreme Court are populated by former Monsanto lawyers and employees. Of COURSE GMOs are safe! We wouldn't lie to you! Colony Collapse in bees? Oh no...our genetically modified corn, wheat, canola, etc and herbicides wouldn't have ANYTHING to do with that! And we are sure the Monarch Butterfly numbers are decreasing rapidly because of some other reason...
If you are not angry, you haven't been paying attention!
I continue to blog in the hopes that it will help someone out there, somewhere, to wake the hell up!
You have the internet (obviously) because you are reading this.
Use duckduckgo.com (they don't save data to hand over to the government!) or, if you must, google.
Check out:
Cotton suicides (Monsanto), GMO bans, FGM, Sharia Law, Honor Killings, "Going Gray".
Check out financial pages and see how the bankers are giving us the shaft.
The Icelandic Revolution (woefully under reported by the main stream media)
Educate yourself.
It is painful, but it is necessary.

We Live in a Sick Society, Part 2
...continued, Part 2. ( Part 1 Here )
3) Corporate America has led us down a primrose path that is killing us! As the industrialization of America continued after WWI and WWII, petroleum was used more and more. Besides being used for gasoline and diesel fuel to power cars and industrial plants and tractors and factories, they started making more products from it. Plastics, fertilizers, herbicides, etc. Things were produced on a GRAND scale. The "market farmer" with his mule powered plow and cultivator could no longer compete with the huge agricultural concerns using tractors and combines that were raising crops on thousands of acres fertilized by petroleum products.
The overuse of agricultural lands in the heartland led to the dust bowl conditions of the 30s, which contributed to the Depression occurring. After WWII, tons of petroleum created pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers were dumped and plowed in on every acre of land that large agricultural companies could get their hands on.
Supermarkets sprang up like dandelions on a suburban lawn. Suburbs sprang up to house the millions of people that wanted city living without being in a city. Family farms were sold at a rapid rate as sons who had seen Paris and London and Amsterdam during WWII decided that family farming was "backwards". Everyone wanted in on the new America...and corporate America obliged.
Instead of a local butcher or greengrocer, housewives converged on supermarkets and bought prepackaged meats, vegetables in cellophane and eggs in neatly compartmentalized cartons. Radio ads and television ads extolled the virtues of products and assured America's wives and mothers about the "healthy" supermarket products. Why, instead of the drudgery of baking fresh bread, buy Wonder Bread! It's HEALTHY! We put VITAMINS in it! (Although currently, those vitamins are joined by the leavings of barber shop floors in China. Yes, they use Chinese hair in most commercially made bread. EWWWWW!)
Ad campaigns sold Americans on the virtues of pre-prepared frozen dinners (and still do).
For farmers it was worse. If you couldn't go BIG, you usually got forced out of the markets. Stores wanted UNIFORMITY in their vegetables and fruits. Food factories wanted uniformity as well. Tomatoes were expected fresh, year round, so they had to be varieties that could be shipped across the country. Most tomatoes in supermarkets are picked green, packed into warehouses and boxcars, and exposed to a gas to ripen them when they are shipped the thousand or more miles across the country to end up being labeled "fresh picked" and sold to the public. The same with celery and spinach and lettuce and...well, you get the idea. Many varieties of vegetables and fruits became scare. Some may have become extinct.
The same thing happened with livestock. Pigs and cows and chickens had to be UNIFORM, so the cuts and appearance was the same week after week. They had to be ready for market faster and gain weight faster. Slower gaining breeds and the "non-uniform" animals were left by the wayside. Even dairy cattle suffered the same fate. Go to a commercial dairy and look around. You'll see mostly Holstein cattle. Occasionally Jersey cows. I remember a local dairy that had only Guernsey cows...sadly, they closed down in the 1970s. But what joys their milk and butter were! Creamy, sweet and the milk actually had a naturally yellow cast to it because of how high the butterfat content was. Luscious milk.
On farms in older days, you raised a "lard pig", a "bacon pig" and a "ham pig" for the family's needs. "lard from the "lard pig" was used for soap, cooking lard, baking lard, etc. Of course, the meat was used too, but the value of the pig (or hog) was in it's fat. Long, leaner breeds of pigs made better bacon, so they were used for that. But no part of the family pig was wasted! I remember my grandmother and grandfather butchering their pigs when I was little. NOTHING went to waste. Intestines were cleaned out and used as sausage casings (hint, do the final rinse in salted water!!). My grandmother even caught the blood draining from the pig to make blood sausage (don't say EWWWW! until you've tried it! It was yummy!).
Today, pigs are raised in confinement, in cages they can't even turn around in. They never feel the sun on their back or are able to root in the dirt. Their tails are cut off so that they don't bite them off of the pig in the cage next to them. And they are oh-so-uniform.
Sadly, many of the older "heirloom" breeds of livestock are endangered. A few are already extinct.
They weren't valued by livestock producers because they aren't as predictable as the uniform breeds they use. They take longer to reach butchering size, they may not have the perfect marbling of fat desired, etc.
Corporate America also convinced Americans that their breath stank, they sweat too much, they needed better cleaning products, their houses smelled bad, etc.
Dozen upon dozen of cleaning products, hygiene products, air fresheners, etc. YAY! MORE chemicals becoming the normal day-to-day products in our homes! Of course we needed them....all the advertisements said so!
Never mind that many of the cleansers and air fresheners caused allergic reactions or over-loaded our bodies with toxic chemicals...our houses sparkled and smelled better! Never mind that that antiperspirant contained aluminum (which an overload of can be a contributing factor in Alzheimer's), WE smelled better! Never mind that the long term exposure to all these modern chemicals had never been adequately studied...our whole world smelled better!
And plastic. Plastic, the wonder material of our age. Toys, kitchen utensils, food containers, anything and everything that could be made of plastic...was.
The more plastic we put in our homes...the more things changed. Things like childhood cancer rates, adult cancer rates, asthma in children and adults, severe allergies, etc.
Coincidence? Maybe, maybe not.
And corporate America keeps on selling. And we keep on buying.
Now we have Genetically Modified Foods. These "miracle foods" were supposed to save starving populations across the world. Instead, they are now found to be causing more severe allergies, decreased soil fertility, hive collapse in bees and other catastrophic problems.
Monsanto is the worst of these offenders. They want to control the food. You control the food, you control the population. There is a revolving door between Monsanto and our government agencies. If you work for one that gives you a basic "lock" on getting lucrative employment with the other.
If you want to get "up to speed" on how damn evil Monsanto is, I suggest you set aside some time to watch a few movies.

Snidely Whiplash, Nell Fenwick and Corn--BUT NO DUDLEY!
Remember this guy? Oh yes...Snidely Whiplash, the evil scourge of the Canadian Rockies. We all hated him...and with good reason! He was always trying to harm in some way or another, the epitome of Canadian loveliness and chasity, Nell Fenwick.
Today, there is a new Snidely Whiplash and this scourge has ventured worldwide...Nell is not the only one in danger...WE ALL ARE.
Unfortunately, Dudley appears to have ridden off into the sunset, probably to retire with his beloved horse somewhere beside a small remote lake, so we are going to have to untie ourselves from this particular railroad track!
Who is this new Snidely?
A multi-national corporation that has poisoned the environment--but not BP!
A company that has sent *agents* to trespass onto to private property to commit theft and they are held to less legal responsibility than government agencies!
A corporation that has INTENTIONALLY altered gene sequences in corn, wheat, and other food plants without fully testing the side effects of their actions!
MONSANTO.
If you know little or nothing about this company, it is past time for you to learn!
WATCH THIS!
You might also want to spend some time watching THIS
There are least a dozen more films out there explaining how one corporation---Monsanto---has *patented* seed. That's right they have PATENTS on seeds...and at one point, they attempted to patent livestock. Not livestock they created, but livestock that carried a gene that had desired attributes (faster maturation, more meat, higher milk yield, etc)
There's a movie about that as well. Patent For a Pig explains quite well the situation.
Take some time out from your busy schedules and attempt to watch these documentaries, if you haven't seen them yet.
Now...what do I intend to do about it?
I am attempting to boycott corn. Almost every grain of corn in the USA is GMO. "Frankenfood". Also in South America. The EU hasn't started licking Monsanto's boots just yet, although I am sure the boots are squeaky clean considering the attentions the US gov't. gives them!
Corn is in damn near everything in the US. I think one of the films said that about 75 to 80% of all foods on American grocers shelves contain corn in one form or another.
I intend to buy organic or from trusted sources ONLY for beef, milk, fresh produce, etc.
We know SOME of the damages GMO foods can cause:
Decreased fertility
Insect death (Hive Collapse Syndrome and the death of hundreds of thousands Monarch Butterflies in the past few years)
Obesity
Early-Onset Puberty (there are now examples of girls starting menstruation at age SIX---usually in poor third world areas where Monsanto has so generously donated grains!)
Less crop per acre than non-GMO or hybrid plants.
Increased resistance to herbicides (by noxious weeds)
Increased resistance to Insecticides (by damaging insects)
Less disease resistance of food crops
Monsanto is NOT trying to "save the world and stamp out hunger"! They are out for a profit, no matter whose life it costs!
We are all Nell right now, and Snidley has the upper hand---for the moment!
Dudley is no longer around, so, boys and girls, it is time to be your own Dudley!
Grow and can/dehydrate/save all you can from good non-hybrid and non-gmo seed. (I recommend www.rareseeds.com as a good source of organic heirloom seeds)
Buy from trusted sources.
Go organic as much as you can. Yes, I know it is more expensive--but it is worth it.
Buy local. Go to local farmers markets, pick your own farms, etc.
ASK the farmer or produce manager or other source what pesticides they use, what kind of seed, etc. STAY INFORMED!
Do not use canola oil, corn oil, corn syrup or any products with corn syrup. Check labels.
This is your health we are talking about. Your children's health. Even the health of the planet is involved.
Be vigilent.
Be Dudley!

The map you see posted here is from Environmental Commons (www.environmentalcommons.org).
It shows which states are friendly to such things as family farms, farmers markets, etc and which states have onerous fees and regulations encouraged by Monsanto and other huge agri-business concerns.
If you are in a white, green or yellow state, watch the legislation in your state government to make sure that Monsanto and their evil minions are not attacking your rights to grow your own food.
If you live in a red state...fight back! Notify your representatives that the laws that benefit huge agri-business at the expense of smaller family run farms need to be repealed!
Do everyone a favor: DO NOT USE MONSANTO PRODUCTS. Don't buy their seeds, pesticides, herbicides or fertilizers. Do not buy soybeans, grow them yourselves. Do not buy corn at grocery stores, grow it yourselves. Or buy *shares* in a local small farm or buy from a trusted farmers market or *pick your own* farm. ASK what pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers they use.
Buy your seeds from heirloom seed savers, not large companies. Local is best! Join seed trading clubs, locally or online.
Same for your livestock. Stay away from huge companies and the bigger farms and ranches when you buy livestock. Most of the larger concerns use growth hormones and other artificial means to fatten up livestock. Try and buy *heirloom* livestock as well.
Buy local as often as you can!
