Most of my dream kitchen focuses on the stove...I want TWO stoves...One gas stove and one wood stove.
BUT, I want both of them to look old. Not old as in worn, used and battered up , but old as in classic, antique and practical.
Which leads me to the following pictures (ladies, get out your smellin' salts...you just might get the vapors looking at these pictures!)
From Antique Gas Stoves
Which turns into THIS:
Actually, that shot is a different stove, but they both have the covers...gives me a SQUEEEE moment!
Want something with a little color? How about a touch of red?
Or maybe a LOT of color!
Those not *retro* enough for you? Wander over to Antique Appliances
All those are gas stoves...but on that site they also showed a wood stove they did...
That's as big as I could get the image to copy and paste...grrrrrr. But it IS lovely. Someone recently posted a pic on Facebook of this beauty, which is coal or wood:
I am trying to hunt down where the pic originally came from or find out the model/maker. I think it would be wonderful for a summer kitchen.
The prices are....jaw dropping HIGH for those refurbished gas stoves.
But consider this...these stoves were built to last a lifetime. Not just 5 years or 10 years, but 50 to 100 years---with proper care and maintenance.
Go to the sites, browse around and droooool at the thought of having one of these marvelous stoves, totally refurbished to perfect working order ...and I am going to look at other kitchen goodies...
hubba hubba hubba !!!!
ReplyDeleteI love all of the stoves you posted above. I think I would be in heaven if I had just one
ReplyDelete:-)
I have a vintage stove in our basement, probably 40's or 50's that you can have to refurbish for yourself. We've been looking for a way to get rid of it. I admit I also drool over those beauties! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteRozy, you can probably find someone a lot closer that will want it (and those refurbisher places pay quite well for old stoves!). But thank you, dear lady, for the offer! If I lived closer I would be happy to take it!
DeleteOh, I'm going to have hot, hot, HOT cook stove dreams tonight!!
ReplyDeleteI know, right!?
DeleteLamb, may a guy play this game too....? If so, I'll write a very uncool guy comment....be still my heart. I love old stoves (and cooking, as you know) they're beautiful.
ReplyDeleteStephen, oh, I know there are guys out there that appreciate the beauty and the utility of these old stoves! They are gorgeous, aren't they? I just wish the prices weren't so dang high!
DeleteThe Grandmother that taught me to cook had an O'Keefe and Merritt from the 40's or 50's that I loved - natural gas. It's on my wish list. Btw, can you tell me the name of the yellow flowers at the top of your blog? They resemble iris, but I've never seen iris stems and foliage that look like that. Really enjoy reading your adventures and ventures.
ReplyDeleteI have NO clue what type of flower that is...we have a couple of those that grow in our yard. Someone told me it was some kind of *Mormon Tea* plant?
DeleteAll I know is the goats love it and, alas, they ate the particular plant shown on my blog soon after it bloomed. It was around 8 to 9 feet tall!
Looks like that big one at the end is the picture of the stove from Cusworth Hall - Doncaster, as posted in:
